Nunsense Join a live audience to watch the Little Sisters of Hoboken display their divine talents in a zany benefit revue. In an effort to raise money for their fallen Sisters--unfortunate victims of a convent cooking accident--Mother Superior (The Golden Girls' Rue McClanahan) and her order of eccentric and endearing nuns show the lighter side of being Catholic. With riotous dance numbers, show-stopping songs and side-splitting wit, you'll swear Nunsense was heaven-sent! Elvis / Clambake
Price: $7.98
Category: VHS Movies
Publisher: MGM (Video & DVD) Starring: Elvis Presley, Shelley Fabares, Will Hutchins, Bill Bixby, Gary Merrill Directed By: Arthur H. Nadel Prices subject to change. Please verify pricing during checkout. |

Elvis's outfits are impressive in 1967's Clambake, especially a groovy, belted sport coat and a cream-colored suit covered with cowhide-style stitching. The costumes are more creative than the soundtrack, which is heavy with the mindlessness of late-period Elvis movies. As he sings "Confidence" (an obvious rip-off of the Oscar-winning "High Hopes"), you can almost see Elvis batting out "Just shoot me" in Morse code with his eyelids. The only decent tune has the star crooning a nice, lonesome version of the standard "You Don't Know Me." This one's set in Florida, but with none of the scenic fun of his Hawaii pictures. |

Bye Bye Birdie
Price: $14.97
Category: VHS Movies
Publisher: Sony Pictures Starring: Dick Van Dyke, Ann-Margret, Janet Leigh, Maureen Stapleton, Bobby Rydell Directed By: George Sidney Prices subject to change. Please verify pricing during checkout. |
|
When Elvis-like rock & roll star Conrad Birdie is drafted into the military, the teen nation is united by a contest in which the winner bestows a farewell kiss upon their idol while on the Ed Sullivan Show. Ann-Margret (in her film debut) is the lucky little lady from Sweet Apple, Ohio, who wins the contest, much to the chagrin of her steady beau (Bobby Rydell) and miserable parents (Paul Lynde and Mary LaRoche). Dick Van Dyke and Janet Leigh are an older couple kept from marrying by his meddlesome mother, played to the hilt by Maureen Stapleton. Lightweight but fun, this features an exuberant soundtrack with such memorable ditties as "Put on a Happy Face" and "Kids" and the title track. |

Grease (Aniv)

|
Riding the strange '50s nostalgia wave that swept through America during the late 1970s (caused by TV shows like Happy Days and films like American Graffiti), Grease became not only the word in 1978, but also a box-office smash and a cultural phenomenon. Twenty years later, this entertaining film adaptation of the Broadway musical received another successful theatrical release, which included visual remastering and a shiny new Dolby soundtrack. For its video and laser disc re-release, Grease lovers can also now see it in the correct 2:35 to 1 Panavision aspect ratio, and see retrospective interviews with cast members and director Randal Kleiser. All these stylistic touches are essential to the film's success. |
